Imperial House community resource centre for Tendring

 

Imperial House

TCVS is based in Imperial House, Rosemary Road in the centre of Clacton. The property also houses seven voluntary and charitable groups under the TCVS or CDP (Community Development Project) umbrella.

 

The House officially opened in 1998 has become a 'one-stop-shop' for the benefit of the people of Tendring.

 

Opening hours are:

 

Monday to Friday 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm - 4.00pm

1. Volunteer Bureau for Tendring

 

Volunteering

We have details of over 150 volunteer opportunities, telephone us, drop in, between 10am & 2.00pm for a chat.

 

Helping Hands Scheme

A volunteer supported scheme that provides help to low income, isolated, frail and/or disabled residents in Tendring, in the form of subsidised transport, small home maintenance tasks, wheelchair pushing and gardening.

 

Guiding Hands Scheme

An advocacy and advice service for people who feel at risk from aggressive sales people and doorstep callers. Guiding hands has a directory of local reliable trades people and if needed a volunteer will help with quotes and be present during the negotiation and delivery process.

 

Community Information Database

A computer database of community, voluntary, social and leisure services and clubs operating in Tendring. It is updated twice a year and is available to anyone in Tendring for a nominal fee.

2. Mayday

 

Self Help Therapy Groups

For people who have mental health problems that are referred by GP's, psychiatrists and self referral.

 

We provide an informal and confidential environment where members can receive encouragement, empowerment and support in the community during recovery, on-going if needed.

 

Activities include: talking therapy, relaxation, anxiety management, music, writing, flower arrangement, discussions and healthy living.

3. Age Concern Essex - Home Support Service

 

Provides a service to older people who need help with their housework, shopping, collection of pensions and other domestic tasks at an affordable price.

4. Carer's Support

North East Essex

A small independent charity offering help and support to carer's throughout North East Essex.

 

Available Monday to Friday 10.00am - 4.00pm

(answer phone available at other times.)

 

The staff and volunteers of the scheme will discuss your caring problems and hopefully guide you to a suitable solution.

We will visit you at home to discuss your caring needs

5. Family Support

 

Clacton Day Centre

Our aim is to provide companionship and stimulation for lonely and socially isolated elderly people and relieve the stress of carer's.

Transport provided.

 

Day Centre

Open every day of the week.  A freshly cooked meal, beverages and entertainment.

 

Wednesday

1.00pm - 4.00pm

An afternoon of therapeutic entertainment which includes lunch.

 

Friday

11.00pm - 2.00pm

A lunchtime meal and a chat for residents.

6. Help the Aged

Your Money Matters is a money advice service for the people over 55 years of age launched by help the aged and Barclays. The service helps older people, their family and their carers to better manage their finances, especially in times of change. It is recognised that older people may face financial struggles particularly in the event of illness or bereavement or general change in circumstances.

Your money Matters aims to improve the skills, confidence and financial situations of older people by providing basic money management and debt advice from a trained advisor and through awareness sessions run by the advisor and volunteers.

Your Money Matters is a free, confidential and impartial service which provides services such as.

  • One to one sessions with the Money Adviser for those who want an in depth information and for people experiencing debt, that can either be at their home or in the Help The Aged office in Clacton. They will be given confidential advice to develop an action plan based upon their individual needs.

  • Managing and budgeting finances

  • Awareness session which will cover topics related to modern banking, setting up direct debit etc.

 

Your Money Matters is a free, confidential and impartial service. Our work is covered by Help The Aged professional indemnity Insurance and Debt Licence. your Money Matter office based in clacton is at Imperial house, Roemary Road. Clacton on sea CO15 1NZ. contact Phone 01255 424389 or email georgeta.busuoc@helptheaged.org.uk Monday to Thursday 9am - 4.30pm. your local Outreach Money Adviser - Georgeta Busuioc is a full member of Institute of money advisers UK and member of Advice UK.

 

 

7. Community Development Project

 

There are two 'strands' to this project;

 

1. Community Development

Engage with local residents to encourage individuals to get involved in local volunteering opportunities or training and help to achieve a more cohesive vibrant community.

 

2. Funding and Development

Strengthen the infrastructure of the voluntary sector by working with local groups to develop good practice, achieve quality standards,  improve systems, achieve more successful fundraising applications and attracting inward investment.
