  • Increasing the skills of voluntary and community groups in Tendring enabling them to become more effective and self funding

  • Encouraging partnerships

Volunteering

There are plenty of opportunities to volunteer either on a regular or occasional basis.

The project will look in the best interests of the individual and will help the person to look for volunteering opportunities that would suit them.

The project will work with other organisations to ensure this happens in particular the project will refer people on to the Volunteer Bureau. Volunteers for the project itself have had the opportunity of office experience, assisting at events, entertaining at events and many other types of volunteering.

Several volunteers have now moved on into employment. There are also many opportunities to undertake free training such as First Aid, Computer courses and others.

If you would like more information about volunteering contact Karen on 01255 425692 or e-mail karen.tedderward@tendringcvs.org.uk

Examples of Community Development Projects;

Walton Local Residents Committee

Money was available for small groups in the Walton area TCVS were asked to form a committee of local residents. Each person took turn in chairing the meeting and the decisions were made by the residents on which groups should get the money. The residents skills and confidence were enhanced by taking part in this.

Coffee Drop-in

Local people were encouraged and supported in starting a community coffee drop-in session on a local estate.  With the support from the project local people take it turns to hold a coffee drop-in session raising money for the Christmas party.

Parent & Toddler Group

A local mum new to the area noted there was no parent & toddler group in the area in which she lived and wanted to set one up but had no idea how to start.  The support of the project provided publicity, and assistance in the first 8 weeks, it is now a thriving group who have outgrown their current premises and the project is helping them with changing there premises.

Support Group

An individual who was having a lot of personal problems and stress was encouraged to attend a support group, the development co-ordinator went with her for the first 6 weeks until she felt ready to attend on her own.  The individual now feels more socially involved and has also become involved in the committees fundraising programme.

Park in Housing Estate

Currently the project is working with Essex police, other agencies and local residents in raising money for a park on a local housing estate.

TENDRING COMMUNITY VOLUNTARY SERVICES
COMPLAINTS PROCEDURE

Tendring C.V.S. aims to provide its members, organisations and individuals with the best possible service.

However, we recognise that from time to time there may be occasions when users of our service feel that the quality or level of service provided falls short of what they could reasonably expect.

Your continued involvement and goodwill is greatly valued by us and therefore, if you have a complaint to make, we would like you to tell us about it.

This is what you should do:

1        The complaint should be made in person, by telephone or in writing to the Chief Officer, or in exceptional circumstances to the Chairman of the Board of Trustees who will acknowledge this in writing within 7 days receipt of any complaint.  If you need an interpreter or advocate to help you make your complaint, the CVS can arrange this for you.

2        The Chief Officer (or Chairman as the case may be) will undertake an investigation into the circumstances leading to the complaint.

3        The complainant will be notified of the results of the investigation within a reasonable time, normally 21 days.

4                    The complainant shall have the right - if dissatisfied with the results of the inquiry - to put his/her case personally to a specially appointed panel of the Board of Trustees.  This panel will not include anyone involved at the earlier stage of the complaint.  The decision of the panel will be final.

5        Where the complaint is upheld, the CVS will give you a written apology signed by the Chairman of the Board and state what action will be taken.

6        The TCVS Board of Trustees will be regularly informed ( at least annually) by the Chief Officer of the number, nature and outcome of any complaints.
